Give & Get Involved

When Rutherford County comes together, a crisis does not have to become a catastrophe.

Consistent support gives CHORC the capacity to respond when a local household is facing eviction, utility loss, or difficulty accessing essential medication. Monthly donors and annual business partners help keep that assistance available all year.

Your gift at work

Local support creates practical help.

CHORC combines direct financial assistance with case management, resource navigation, referrals, and follow-up. Approved rent and utility payments are made directly to providers, and prescription assistance is coordinated directly with Beckman’s Pharmacy.

01

Prevent homelessness

Help resolve an immediate rental crisis before a household loses stable housing.

02

Maintain a healthy home

Help restore or protect essential electricity, water, and natural-gas service.

03

Protect access to medication

Help eligible clients obtain essential prescriptions and prescription copays.

04

Support lasting stability

Strengthen the staff capacity and systems behind careful eligibility review, case management, and follow-up.

Help keep the help available

Assistance funds pay the bill. Sustaining support makes the service possible.

CHORC works hard to secure grants and designated funds for rent, utilities, and prescription assistance. Many of those dollars are restricted and can only be used for direct payments on behalf of clients.

Delivering that assistance well requires more: trained staff to listen and assess each crisis, careful eligibility review, vendor coordination, financial oversight, case management, technology, office operations, grant compliance, and follow-up with the household.

Monthly and annual unrestricted gifts provide the reliable foundation behind every successful assistance payment. They allow CHORC to plan responsibly, retain the capacity our community needs, and deliver services with accuracy, dignity, and care.

Board service

Bring your experience and community connections to CHORC.

CHORC is especially interested in prospective board members who can help strengthen fundraising and increase public awareness across Rutherford County.

Board members meet on the third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. every other month, with in-person and hybrid participation options. Members are expected to make a personally meaningful annual donation; no specific amount is required.

How the process works

  1. Contact CHORC and complete a board application.
  2. Have a brief conversation with Board Vice President Cathy Cooper.
  3. The Board considers and votes on the application at a subsequent meeting.
